The purpose of this project is to (re)connect our communities, families, and long distance loved ones through the joy and inspiration that bringing mosaic tiles together into one united piece of art.

Experience the power of art and connection with Mural Mosaic's Global Roots Project.  This groundbreaking initiative is bringing communities together, one painted tile, one painting, and one country at a time.  Led by acclaimed artist Lewis Lavoie, we are creating stunning mural mosaics that symbolize unity and connection.

Every Global Roots Mosaic Mural engages participants in the process of painting a tile representing their connection to community, country, colleagues, team, family and even the world!  Completed tiles are collected digitally, then artist and design teams from Mural Mosaic work their magic to create each mosaic mural.

                 Purple Tile Examples

As all the completed tiles connect, a united image of a Twilight will emerge representing both the contributions of individual participants and the collective group artwork - a true reflection of unity through diversity.  Our passion is unity through diversity. We see our mosaic murals as community connectors.

We are celebrating diversity and welcome it.  We connect a large diversity of tiles that will be part of a unique large mural.

How do you bring a project like this together?

Lewis needs to let go and welcome the creativity from the participants and the magic happens.

You will decide what you’d like to paint on your canvas. It can reflect an image of importance and meaning to you. E.g.: family, nature, landscapes, animals, and abstracts.

FREE Art Classes for Kids at the Brush Art Gallery & Studios

Join on of these exciting art classes for children at the Brush Art Gallery & Studios.

Registration Required!

• Fun with Watercolor: Claire Gagnon, painter, proposes an exciting way to paint your favorite animal or insect using watercolor.  This will be a fun and exciting class where students can let their imagination run free.  Age 7 to 12 years old (max 8 students).  Times 1:30 to 2:20 pm (session one), 2:30 to 3:20 pm (session two).
• Fun with Weaving: Students will learn to weave with yarn from artist Amber Hurley.  This class is targeted toward beginners.  Age: 9 to 15 years old (max 7 students). Times: 12:00 to 12:50 pm (session one), 1:30 to 2:20 pm (session two).
• Fun with Clay: Students will use air dried clay to hand form their own dragon sculpture with potter Lolita Demers. Lolita has taught 45 years.  Learn hand building and sculpting techniques.  Time allowing, students will paint sculptures with acrylic paint.  Students will be able to take home their creation.  Students should bring an apron or old shirt as acrylic paint does not comes out of clothes.  Age 8 to 12 years old (max 10 students).  Times: 10 to 11:30 am (session one), 1 to 2:30 pm (session two).

April "PlayCation" 2024 at the Brush

Join on of these exciting art classes for children or teenagers at the Brush Art Gallery & Studios.  Register now!

• Figure Sketching/Drawing: With Donna Berger, students will learn approaches for making quick figure drawings.  Grids will be provided to help with proportions and size.  Students may be asked to act as models for short 10 minute poses. 
  Age: 10 to 14 years old (max 8 students). Time: 10 am to 11 am.
  
• Exploring Watercolor: Claire Gagnon will propose an exciting way to explore with watercolor. Age: 12 to 18 years old (max 8 students). Time: 1 to 1:50 pm.
• Fun with Digital Art: Tom Whiting will demonstrate digital drawing on iPad or Surface Computer (bring your own device to follow along).  Age: 12 to 15 years old (max 6 students). Time: 1 to 3 pm.
• Fun with Clay: Lolita Demers will teach how to "hand-form" a clay animal such as a rabbit or cat using self-hard clay.  If time allows, students will paint the animal. Make and take with you. Age 8 to 12 years old (max 10 students). Time: 2 to 3 pm.

Four by Four for Education

Attend the 4x4 for education to have a chance to acquire this nice 4" x 4" painting that I painted or any of the other 100 artworks created by local artists.  Or you can also decide to contribute by creating your own.

Who Benefits: The Four by Four raises funds for the Brush Scholarship and Special Perspectives. A $1000 scholarship is granted to a deserving UMass Lowell art student. Special Perspectives programming brings art instruction to challenged adults, currently Megan's House, a transition program for young women recovering from addiction.

We ask visual artists to create one 4 inch by 4 inch work of art. The Brush provides a blank, stretched canvas. Artists create whatever they wish with whatever media and materials they chose.

The Fundraising Event: Guests buy $25 tickets online prior to March 23 or in person on March 23rd. All participants with tickets leave with a work of art. Names are drawn at random and your place in line is determined by the drawing.
